Wallpaper has a way of changing a room that paint alone rarely achieves — the right paper adds pattern, texture, and personality that becomes the whole point of a space rather than just the backdrop. Prima Decor has been installing wallpaper across London homes and commercial interiors for over 12 years, working with everything from delicate hand-printed papers in Mayfair townhouses to hardwearing vinyl in busy hotel corridors. A single feature wall or a full-property installation — we handle the entire job, from assessing the walls on day one to the final check with you before we pack up.
If you're also considering refreshing the paintwork at the same time, take a look at our interior painting services — a lot of our clients combine both on the same visit.
We follow the same careful sequence on every wallpapering job, because skipping steps is what causes problems down the line:
• Site survey — we look at the walls properly before anything else: checking for damp, cracks or uneven surfaces, and talking through your wallpaper choices and pattern preferences.
• Surface preparation — every wall is filled, sanded, and primed before we hang a single length. This is the part most people don’t see, but it’s what separates paper that looks good for a decade from paper that starts to lift within a year.
• Wallpaper hanging — we cut, paste and hang each length with care, aligning patterns precisely and trimming edges cleanly so the finished room looks exactly as it should.
Our team has experience with the full range of wallpaper types in use today:
• Hand-printed and designer wallpapers — Graham & Brown, Farrow & Ball, Cole & Son, Osborne & Little
• Fabric and textile wallpapers — silk, linen, grasscloth and woven finishes
• Metallic and foil wallpapers — ideal for feature walls and statement spaces
• Flock and textured wallpapers — adds depth and warmth to living rooms and bedrooms
• Vinyl and washable wallpapers — durable and practical for kitchens, hallways and commercial interiors
• Anaglypta and embossed papers — classic textured finishes for period properties
We advise on wallpaper selection, hanging requirements, and surface suitability as part of every quote — at no extra cost. For commercial properties needing specialist wallcoverings, see our commercial painting and decorating services.
Most wallpapering jobs in London fall between £150 and £500 per room. The main variables are room size, the condition of the existing walls, and the wallpaper itself — hand-printed, fabric, or metallic papers take more care to hang and are priced accordingly. We provide free, detailed quotes that set out every cost clearly before any work begins. No hidden charges, no unexpected extras.
Wondering what a full interior refresh might cost alongside wallpapering? Our spray painting service can be a surprisingly efficient way to handle fitted furniture or cabinet doors at the same time.
Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions about our services. If you have a question that isn’t on this list then please get in touch.
How much will it cost to paint my home?
Every project is different and we base our quotes on your individual requirements. We provide detailed itemised quotes that list every cost involved in the job so you can make an informed decision before agreeing to work together.
Can you provide references of your work?
We actively encourage our customers to request references from our recent clients. This allows us to demonstrate the quality of our work and the strong reputation we have built over the years in both domestic and commercial sectors.
Do you work alone or do you have a team?
The size of the project will determine how many decorators we allocate to the property. As a professional and established company we have a team of experienced painters available to work on projects of any size.
Does your papering quote include material costs?
Our free quote will list the full details of all the costs involved in the job. This includes materials, labour and VAT, giving you a fixed-price so you know exactly where you stand.
How can you prove the quality of your work?
We’ve worked with countless homeowners across the Southeast and are happy to provide references on request, giving you assurance that you are using a reputable company that work to the highest standards.
Do you offer guidance on style and materials?
The vast majority of our clients prefer to choose their colour scheme and materials before contacting us. However, where needed we are always happy to offer our professional advice to help you achieve the best finish.
Can I spray paint all of my home?
Spray painting requires a lot of control and in some cases may be best suited for external areas or larger commercial spaces. This is something we will discuss with your before the project starts, as the cleanliness and safety of your home is always our number one priority.
Is spray painting more expensive than traditional painting?
This will depend on the overall size of the project as spray painting is much faster and allows you to meet a shorter deadline, while manual methods can take longer to complete. Our free quote will list all of the costs involved in the project and we can also offer a comparison between spray and manual painting if required.
Is spray painting harmful to the environment?
We use Dulux and Johnstone interior paints that are all water-based and have low VOC ratings (Volatile Organic Compounds). This means toxicity is minimised and indoor air quality is improved while also reducing harm to the environment.
What type of exterior painting services do you provide?
We offer two types of exterior wall coating for domestic and commercial properties. The first is coloured spray that can be used on any type of exterior surface. Alternatively, for unpainted brick and stone walls we also offer transparent spray painting coatings.
Do you subcontract the work out to other decorators?
As an established and professional decorating company, all jobs are carried out by members of the Prima Décor team and not sub-contracted out to external decorators. It is why we are able to guarantee the same high standard of work for every customer we work with.
Do I need planning permission to paint the outside of my home?
Generally speaking, you do not need to request planning permission to paint the outside of your home. If you live in a listed building you may need listed-building consent if the painting affects the character of the property. If you are unsure, this can always be verified with your local authority.
